What is an Ombuds?
The Office of the Ombuds is a confidential, impartial, and informal resource dedicated to helping members of the 明星黑料 community—students, faculty, and staff—resolve problems and conflicts.
The Ombuds will listen to your concerns, help you understand university policies, and assist in developing a range of options for resolution. Our office acts as an advocate for fairness and equity for everyone at B-CU.
The Ombuds is:
- Independent: Our office reports directly to the Chief of Staff, Dr. Julius John, ensuring we can provide unbiased assistance.
- Confidential: We will not share your name or any identifying information without your explicit permission, except in cases of imminent danger or as required by law.
- Impartial: We are neutral parties who consider the rights and interests of everyone involved, helping to find fair and equitable solutions.
What kinds of student concerns are brought to the Ombuds?
You can discuss any concern with the Ombuds in a confidential setting. Issues typically brought to our office include:
- Academic concerns

When should I contact the Ombuds?
You can contact the Office of the Ombuds anytime you need to. While you should always try to resolve an issue through official channels first (e.g., with an instructor, department head, or dean), the Ombuds can be especially helpful if:
- You're unsure who to speak with or what options are available to you.
- You feel you have been treated unfairly or inequitably.
- You believe a university policy or procedure has been applied incorrectly.
- You need help negotiating a solution or facilitating communication with others.
- You want to discuss a sensitive issue in complete confidence.
What can this office do?
When other approaches have not worked, the Ombuds can help you find a path forward. The Ombuds can:
- Answer your questions and explain B-CU policies and procedures.
- Evaluate your situation and help you develop options for addressing your concern.
- Assist you in finding a solution and refer you to the appropriate resources.
- Recommend changes to policies or procedures to university officials to promote fairness.
